Planning Your Autumn Excursion on the East Coast

Autumn Excursion on the East Coast

When summer slowly turns to autumn, the east coast comes alive.  Tourists travel from far and wide to view the brilliant leaves as they change colors and to glean the last bit of balmy weather from states like Florida and Georgia.

No matter where on the Atlantic Coast, if you plan to take a vacation this autumn, you are sure to find a locale that suits your every whim.  Here are a few of my favorite destinations when traveling to the east coast.

Walt Disney World

Starting down in Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney World is the first stop on our trip up the Atlantic Coast.  Although technically not on the coast, Walt Disney World is a must see attraction for anyone ages 1-100.  There is plenty to see and do, from rides to shows to shopping.  Get your picture taken with the iconic Mickey Mouse, get your fill of travel and culture at the world famous Epcot Center, or tour Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  There is enough to see and do at Walt Disney World to last an entire vacation, maybe two, but we must press on.

Camden Yards

Make sure you get here before the end of September so you can catch a game in one of Major League Baseball’s most revered stadiums, Camden Yards Stadium. Home to the Baltimore Orioles, Camden Yards has been highly recognized for its design and architecture, both inside and outside of the stadium.  The ball park mixes modern and contemporary designs with a throwback feel.  The stadium features brick facades, HD television screens, and many other unique features. After the game, stop and have dinner or a drink at the famous Diamond Tavern, located just across the street from the park.

New England Fall Leaf Tours

Continuing north, we eventually find ourselves at the last stop on our vacation to the Atlantic Coast.  If we’ve timed everything perfectly, we should be arriving just as the leaves begin to turn, bringing with it vibrant colors across the countryside.  This leaf viewing has turned into a fully fledged industry, with many companies offering guided tours, charter buses to the destinations, and even aerial tours.  If you are visiting New England in the fall, you absolutely must take a fall leaf tour.

Hopefully your trip to the Atlantic Coast is a memorable one.  Any time of year is great for a visit, but the fall is by far my favorite time of year.  Reserve your trip today, and make sure you schedule enough time to really take in all that the east coast has to offer.
