Tanzania Safaris | Amani Afrika | Satisfied Clients

G’day i have been in Africa now for just over a year and recently scaled the biggest mountain with a great mate. We went up with Temba and his smiling team of helpers, cooks and story tellers. The trip was just amazing with definitely one of the best experiences I have had so far on this continent and my life. The Mountain is just beautiful in splendor and shoots up out of the ground just out side of the hot town of Moshi. Our 6 days started early and from day one we were looked after like kings. The porters do all the hard work for you and the Chef Mr D makes camping on the side of a mountain like going to a high class restaurant. Temba’s knowledge and experience is second to none and has only ever got a smile on his face. Our small team that climbed the mountain became well know between other groups as we were always singing and laughing along route. The Other guides and climbers would often ask why this was so that we were having so much fun and our response was that we were just all friends the whole team and that the journey is the most important experience and fun not just the summit.

That was the best bit of advice I could give anyone is that it’s all about the journey up and down, not just the half an hour you spend on the top of Africa. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or team of friends. Amani Afrika is a group of people who really know how to provide a great experience and adventure from the moment you leave home. It’s not all about the destination but the paths you walk to get there and that they make a fantastic experience. People who love what they do really do a job differently.

Cheers

Things to do with children in Kauai (starting in the Kapaa condo and working out from there)

There is so much to see and do on Kauai! You can fill up every day with activities, or you can choose to slow down and enjoy the Resort. (True story: we try to take our own family and friends to see everything when they visit us and more than once our guests have begged us, “Can’t we just stay here and hang out at the pool?”)

In Your Condo: We have provided a DVD/VCR player in the living room. The Kauai movies collection includes every movie made on Kauai, and there are many! Every Jurassic Park movie, South Pacific, Tropic Thunder, many Vietnam-themed movies, Elvis’ Blue Hawaii and so many others were set in Kauai. Kids love to try to identify where the scenes were filmed! The CDs are of island music, and many guests have told us they like to play them in the car while driving around. (Just be sure to pop the CD out of the rental car before returning it!) The books include tour books about Kauai with information about beaches, hikes and other activities. There are also some board games, puzzles, and DVDs for children. The condo also has boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other beach gear, ice chests, and snorkel gear (including kid sizes), and sand toys

At Waipouli Resort: Your kids will want to spend many hours at the pool! It’s a two-acre lazy river through lush tropical landscaping complete with waterfalls, a “secret” grotto, flumed water slides, and a shallow sandy bottom area for small children. Just north of the resort is an area that is wonderful for tide-pooling at low tide. On the south side of the resort is a fresh-water canal that kids love to play in. It has small waves from the ocean, tiny fish and small crabs. A short distance from the ocean, the canal becomes a fishing spot where small perch can be caught by fishing from above the canal. (The Long’s Drugstore, across the highway, has fishing sets for $5.) From the beach, you may spot a whale or dolphin or even the endangered Monk Seal. A McDonalds is across the road.

Within A Short Stroll: Kauai’s east side is home to “the path that goes by the coast”, an unforgettable bicycling path. Bike rentals are available a short distance from the resort or you can take a leisurely family stroll. This one of a kind multi-use path is best known for its countless panoramic views and miles of spectacular Kauai beaches as well as the unique local marine and bird species that make Kauai their home. We also recommend taking the Kauai Movie Tour located nearby.

Within A Five-Minute Drive: Catch thehula show at the Smith Family Garden Luau, Rent Kayaks and explore the Wailua River with its waterfalls, the Fern Grotto and restored Hawaiian Village. Kealia Beach is perfect for boogie boarding.

Lydgate Park is just south of the Wailua River on the ocean side of the highway. Lydgate Beach is calm and clear - perfect for young swimmers and beginner snorkelers. This park is popular with locals and visitors for its range of activities. Swimming and snorkeling are safe here with the protection of a nearby reef and an even more protected area with a man-made boulder enclosure. The pool is one of the best year-round snorkeling spots on Kauai. Families of brightly colored fish feed along the rocky perimeter, so tame they almost swim into your hands. There are showers for rinsing off sand and salt before going home and a lifeguard. Two amazing play areas make Lydgate a favorite for children. Adjacent to the swimming areas is a large award-winning Playground. Constructed of natural materials incorporating Hawaiian themes, this playground is large and complex enough for young and older children. At the far southern end of the Park is a Play Bridge, also made of natural materials. This is a multi-storied structure featuring mazes and tunnels and a play chute. It has been designed to be very safe (railings are high and narrow enough to prevent falls).  Children and adults can be seen running to enter this play space once they have glimpsed it from afar. It is fun for all! At Lydgate park you can also fly a kite, play frisbee on the wide sandy beach, and collect shells and driftwood.

The Rest Of Kauai: Take your kids on easy to moderate hikes, where they can count some of the lesser known Kauai waterfalls and spot wild birds. Little ones enjoy walking to the end of the pier at Hanalei Bay, where they can look out into the ocean and see the fish. Enjoy some of Kauai’s numerous “Activities”. Ride down an old plantation irrigation system in a tube. Take a helicopter ride. See Waimea Canyon and learn about Kauai’s environment at Kokee Natural History Museum. Go ziplining. Island horseback riding is also a popular family activity.

Self Catering Holidays In Lanzarote

Lanzarote is an ideal year round holiday destination.  As this small Spanish island in the Canaries enjoys good weather even in winter.  Whilst boasting loads for visitors to do and see.

The most popular attraction on the island is the Timanfaya National Park – which was created by violent volcanic activity during the 18th century.  Leaving much of the interior of Lanzarote looking like the surface of the moon.  Today hundreds of thousands of tourists visit this spot very year to gaze at the lava flows and dormant volcanoes.

Away from the volcanic interior Lanzarote boasts great beaches – close to 100 in total.  Some of which are regarded as amongst the best in the whole of the Canaries.  Such as Famara on the raw North West coastline and Papagayo located down in the south.

Which Resort?
There are three main holiday resorts on Laznarote – each with its own identity and characteristics.

Costa Teguise is in the north of the island and is the best choice for anyone planning to view some of Lanzarote´s main attractions.  As most of these are within a fifteen minute radius of the resort.  Which is also home to a very good selection of hotels – such as the Gran Melia Salinas.  One of just two five star establishments on the whole island.

Playa Blanca is located at the southern end of the island.  Which makes it the best choice during the summer months as it tends to enjoy the best weather Lanzarote has to offer then.  Whilst the north can be cloudy and grey.

Playa Blanca is also home to the largest number of villas in Lanzarote – many of which have been built over the last five years.  So offering good quality, modern accommodation.  Playa Blanca is located just across the Bocaina Straits from neighbouring Fuerteventura and is ideal for a beach holiday all year round.

Puerto del Carmen is located in the centre of the island – and is the biggest and most popular resort on Lanzarote.  Boasting great beaches and excellent nightlife as well as a huge range of restaurants for visitors to choose from.

Puerto del Carmen is the ideal choice for anyone seeking apartments in Lanzarote.  As the resort is home to the biggest selection of complexes of any resort.  And has recently undergone something of a facelift as local tourist authorities have pumped €16 million into improving the tourist offering here.

Buon Ma Thuot - Travel vacations in vietnam

monument Buonmathuot - Vietnam

Like Kontum and Pleiku, the main attraction of Buon Ma Thuot is not the town itself but the surrounding area. There are numerous ethnic villages and also some spectacular waterfalls, all of which are within a day’s trip. Although on the Central Highlands, Buon Ma Thuot is at a lower altitude than Dalat at 451 m, so does not necessarily offer the same cool escape from the hot weather.

Ede Minority Hilltribe

A visit to the Ede tribe (or Rhode Tribe) makes a trip to Buon ma Thuot worthwhile. This tribe is primarily matriarchal. The women own the property and after marriage the man must move in with the woman’s family whose house is extended to accommodate the new couple. The houses of the Ede tribes are long (up to 30 m) and thin (4 m). Each time there is a wedding, a family house is extended like carriages on a train. Each section can be closed off and has its own door and kitchen. The houses are also on built stilts so that wood, food and even livestock can be stored under the house.

hilltribe people party Vietnam

Ede tribe has a different ceremony for their dead than the Bahnar at Pleiku tribes. They bury the deceased just below the surface of the ground so that the spirit can fly to the heavens. Around the grave they keep wooden carvings of elephant tusks and on four pillars built around the grave they picture four birds to protect the dead. The Ede tribe practices animalistic beliefs.

Hill tribe museum

There is a very interesting Hill Tribe museum at No. 1 Doc Lap street. It includes some of the tools or arms used by the Ede tribe to hunt elephants. The museum also provides very valuable information about the culture of the tribe.

Lak lake

Lak Lake is situated 50 km south of Buon Ma Thuot. To see the lake you must obtain a permit that costs $20 US for a group of people. It is also possible to sleep in the Ede houses there. In this village, you can take up to a three hour elephant ride around the area.
