Do you like to have fun? Silly question, right? The better question is to ask where you can go for the most fun. Enter America, home of the amusement park. There is some debate over where, exactly, the first theme park first sprang up, but there is no question that America has been perfecting the concept of amusement on a grand-scale ever since. Anyone who traverses America’s west coast will find that some of the best amusement parks are right within their reach. Here is a rundown of five of the best amusement parks on the west coast to tempt your fancy:

Six Flags Magic Mountain

Located in Los Angeles, California, Six Flags Magic Mountain still holds the Guinness Book World Record for most roller coasters and features a wide array of XTREME rides to suit every daredevil in the family. This landmark theme park is actually so famous for its high-flying roller coasters that it was the setting for a mid-seventies feature film on the subject. For those who can’t stomach the XTREME rides, Six Flags features a kids-themed park area, dance clubs, and some more tame, adventure-type rides.

Disneyland

No description of America’s best west coast amusement parks would be complete without “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Disneyland offers its visitors two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park. Between the two, you can take in a myriad of amusing experiences, including the worlds of yesterday, fantasy and tomorrow, and a land where all your favorite Disney characters come to life.

California’s Great America

Boasting the most rides in Northern California, Great America offers the greatest variety of kid’s rides and roller coasters, and is the only park in the American west coast to feature a water park in addition to its other attractions. The park is located in Santa Clara.

Knott’s Berry Farm

This park, conceived by farmer Walter Knotts and touted as America’s First Theme Park, originally began as a berry farm and chicken restaurant run by his family. Located in Buena Park, the park today boasts over one-hundred and sixty acres of rides, shows, a launch coaster, and one-of-a-kind attractions sure to please every member of the family.

Legoland California

Voted one of the world’s best amusement parks and featuring more than sixty rides on over one hundred and twenty acres, Legoland is more than just an exploration of one of America’s favorite toys. The park is located in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego.

If you’re planning a vacation to America’s west coast, don’t miss out on some of the best amusement America has to offer. Take in some history, thrill your senses, and get some laughs when you visit these American landmark amusement parks.
